Memorial Service for Dr. Linda Chamberlin

Dr. Linda Chamberlin, Associate Professor of Biology, passed away last Thursday night after a courageous battle with cancer. Her colleagues in the Biology department have decided that the best gift they can give Linda, her family, and themselves at this time is to honor her by taking time to reflect, meditate, and pray. Dr. Leslie S. Jones and Dr. Jenifer Turco are organizing a service on behalf of the Department of Biology to commemorate Linda's life and allow people to pay their respects to her family.

The Memorial Service will be: Thursday, June 23rd at 7:00 p.m. by candlelight in the Ashley Hall Rotunda with a short reception following the ceremony. Parking is available on the north side of Georgia Avenue. Everyone is welcome including families and quiet children.

Students, colleagues and friends who would be interested in speaking as part of the memorial should notify the Department of Biology at 333-5759 if they would like to be involved in the service. Readings, eulogies, and memories of Linda may be included. A book with blank pages is planned so that people can put thoughts down for Linda's family and there will be a basket for sympathy cards. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations be made to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 5323, Valdosta, GA 31603.
