VSU sponsors Business Plan Competition

Valdosta State University, in conjunction with Guardian Bank the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, Valdosta Technical College, and The Valdosta Daily Times, is involved in initiating the Guardian Bank Business Plan Competition.

On Thursday, Nov. 4, the kickoff reception will be held at the Chamber of Commerce on 416 North Ashley Street from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. At that time, potential participants can meet with sponsors, consultants, and other entrepreneurs.

The competition is intended to assist aspiring entrepreneurs turn business ideas and visions into reality. The participant will have a chance to receive $10,000 toward the start-up of a professional business in the Valdosta area, free advice from local professionals and consultants, and networking with other entrepreneurs and local investors. Seminars will take contestants through the method of creating an effective business plan.

The launch of the contest correlates with the Chamber of Commerce's Sowing Entrepreneurs Economic Development Success (SEEDS) Center, a resource center for local entrepreneurs.

VSU students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities and resources connected with the contest to further career dreams, while at the same time, building the economic base of the local community.
