VSU to host National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week

Valdosta State University will be joining thousands of colleges across the nation in the National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week from October 18-22, 2004. The mission of the week is to spread the message that most college students are making appropriate decisions to protect their health and safety.

Major events of the week include ?Beer Factor?, which includes information about alcohol awareness and an obstacle course provided by Housing and Residence Life, a ?Mocktail? contest hosted by Greek Life where fraternities and sororities team up to create non-alcoholic drinks, and a discussion entitled ?What Happened Last Night?,? sponsored by Faber Health Clinic.

The week will culminate with the annual ?Alcohol Awareness Fair? on Thursday, October 21, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Palms Quad. There will be more than 30 campus and community agencies contributing information on the prevention of alcohol related problems, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, offer positive alternatives to misusing alcohol, and referral resources. The fair will feature a DUI Cone Course, free food, door prizes, and music.
