University Advancement recognized for outstanding service

Valdosta State University's Division of University Advancement was honored recently by the Georgia Educational Advancement Council (GEAC) with the GEAC 2000 Award for Institutional Excellence in Advancement.

Under the direction of Ray Devery, vice president for Institutional Advancement, the division was recognized for using the latest in sophisticated technology and computerized software packages to expand services to the university and its internal and external audiences.

Additional items of recognition included the Office of Alumni Relations for their implementation and success of the Alumni Travel Program, which included trips to Alaska and Europe.

The Office of Annual Giving increased participation in the annual Faculty and Staff Campaign by 11 percent in the past four years.

The Office of University Relations was recognized for its development of a video news service, which produced 25 video news releases for distribution to regional and national television news media in the past year.

GEAC is a non-profit statewide association of professionals working in educational advancement, primarily in development, public relations, publications and alumni affairs.
