Muncy tapped as executive director of the Association for Consumer Research

Dr. James A. Muncy, a professor of marketing in Valdosta State University's College of Business Administration, was recently named executive director of the Association for Consumer Research (ACR). Muncy's appointment means the ACR's offices are returning to Georgiawhere it was originally incorporatedafter 17 years in Provo, Utah.

ACR, founded in 1969, is one of the largest research associations in marketing with more than 1,700 members worldwide. It brings together researchers interested in better understanding consumers and buying behavior. Each year, ACR sponsors a North American conference and a global conference alternating between sites in Europe and the Pacific Rim. In addition, ACR cosponsors numerous other conferences on consumer policy, consumer satisfaction and demographic issues in marketing.

ACR also publishes Advances in Consumer Research in addition to numerous books on consumer behavior.

Muncy has taught at Valdosta State for seven years, and holds a doctorate in marketing from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
