Funding Sources/Pools Available to the Space and Facility Committee
Renovation/Maintenance/ADA Pool: a limited resource pool assigned by the Planning and Budget Committee. The Space and Facility Committee may distribute the Facilities Maintenance Fund into general categories such as Emergency Repair, Sidewalk Repair, HVAC Repair, or major project work. Projects differ from scheduled maintenance in that they typically will require more than 50 labor hours, or more than one shop to complete, or require parts and materials that exceed the plant operating budget.
Instructional Setting Renovation Pool: a limited resource pool assigned by the Planning and Budget Committee. The Space and Facility Committee will review and prioritize classroom area projects. Facilities Planning will perform a condition assessment of all classrooms and provide the committee with a list of the classrooms in the worst condition and recommendations for renovation.
Maintenance and Repair (MRR) Funds: MRR Funds are distributed from the BOR to institutions in the University System of Georgia based on a square footage formula. In accordance with BOR policy, Presidents of each institution provide a project list to the USO each February for the next fiscal year’s MRR fund. The annual list of projects exceeds the available funding, but provides a record of projects that need to be accomplished. The Director of Physical Plant and Facilities will present a proposed MRR listing to the Space and Facility Committee as an informational item.
