This amazingly pink subadult Ross's Gull was apparently shot June 2, 2001 by a Gambell native, while hunting a few miles south along the coast, where he had reportedly seen 20 of them foraging (visiting birders had seen a flock of up to 5 on several occasions that week). The bird above was one of these and is similarly plumaged, although the misty air conceals its brightness somewhat.
