This display case was created as a Christmas present for a friend who uses it to display a McGuffey Reader her father gave her. The book in the photograph is Working with Tools and Wood, a book given to me by a friend several years ago.
The case is basically a box made from finger-jointed oak with a plywood bottom covered with felt. The top is a small frame with a glass panel. The top is attached with small brass hinges and a brass hasp. The finish is many coats of hand-rubbed paste wax.
This is one of my favorite projects and I must say it turned out quite well.
Note: Only after the project was finished did I learn about The McGuffey Ash. Ash would have been the appropriate wood.
