My name is Porsche Frierson.  I was born in Camp Pendleton, CA and was raised in Albany, GA.  I am currently working on my teacher certificate in Early Childhood Education at Valdosta State University in the Early Childhood and Special Education Department.  I earned my Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Albany State University.  I also have a Master's degree in Public Administration from Valdosta State University.  While working in retail for three and a half years, I discovered my true passion--  teaching.  Helping children to become effective future leaders is my mission.

My favorite hobby is shopping.  When they coined the phrase "shop till you drop", you would think they were talking about me.  I have been on different group shopping trips to several  malls around the state of Georgia and Florida.  When I lived in Houston, Texas, my favorite mall to visit was The Galleria.  That mall is so  big that it even has an ice-skating rink in it.  I wanted to try it, but I was a little scared.

Hoover Dam
Maidofthe Mist
Yunkue Rain Forest

I have visited many places over the years. Some of my favorites are shown above--I visited Hoover Dam, located on the Arizona-Nevada borders.  It was an awesome experience, especially when we toured the turbine rooms to see how the water moved through the dam.  The trip to the Dam from Las Vegas provided desert landscapes I had never seen before.  It is amazing how they get green grass to grow in such an arid climate.  The next photo is the "Maids of Mist" boat on Niagara Falls in Canada.  We went out onto the Falls to get an up-close look.  We were provided rain coats to help keep us dry during this tour--sadly to say, they were not too effective.  When we returned, we were very wet. At any time, you could see gorgeous rainbows. The last photo is of El Yunque Rain Forest, Puerto Rico.  True to its name, it rained the whole time we were touring the forest.  We saw some exotic birds, flowers, and lush green ferns.  The temperature was cool and pleasant; however, the sun barely penetrated the thickness of the forest.

I chose two educational sites for teachers.  The first one is Georgia Gifted Web Pages.  This site helps teachers to make general accommodations for gifted students in the regular classroom.  This site also helps guide them when doing lesson plans.  The last site is Gamequarium.  This site has different online reading activities that teachers can have students complete.  Students will learn even though they will be playing different games.
