Like I mentioned before, it
took me twelve years
to decide if teaching is what I really wanted to do with my life. As a
child and teenager, I always wanted to teach young children. After 13
years of schooling I took a year off before I began my college career.
I originally started out with a major in Early Childhood Education and
changed it when I took a course that required me to tutor in a class
with children who had learning disabilities. The teacher in that room
talked me into changing my major to Special Education. After I got my
Associates degree, again I was tired of all the classes and studying
and I decided to take another break. It turned out to be a very long
break. My youngest daughter was diagnosed with a type of Autism in
February 2005. It was then I decided to complete my degree to help her
as well as others like her. I am extremely interested in working with
kids that have disabilities because I feel like they need the most
help.
